LRM Billing Show 20th-22nd July 2007 Review
For all of you who didn’t have the opportunity to attend the LRM Land Rover show at Billing Aquadrome it was very, very very WET !!!
We arrived on Thursday afternoon to get the Qt Services stand setup, only to find that we’d been moved from our origional pitch to a new one. However, this was alot closer to the main arena and gave us a better show presence. The guys from Qt were running late as they’d stopped in the workshop to complete the new demo truck. Last minute mods to the towbar drop link were required before they headed north to Northhampton. We finally had the stand setup around 9ish that eveing and settled in for a good nights sleep.
The following morning we woke to rain, the site was a little water logged but we were hopeful that the rain would stop and the sun come out. Unfortunatly this didn’t happen and it rained solid for the whole day right through till 4pm. By now the site had become a mud bog and was beginning to look quite grim. Even landy owener’s need to get out the mud for dinner !!!
On Saturday things did start to improve during the day with the sun coming out and the ground started to get a little dryer. That as until it started to rain again at night and things went from bad to worse under foot, we retired to bed with it still raining and little hope of a good day on Sunday.
Sunday, began with the usual slip and slide around the stand until bales of straw were delivered, this made this alot better and we started to see good levels of customers arriving. The weather began to improve and the sun finally came out.
During the weekend Fraser & Dan fitted a full internal roll cage to Gary Taylor’s 90. Gary had won a full vehicle makeover in a LRM compotition and was on cloud nine. You can watch Gary’s comments in the video section. We were also fortunate to grab Jerry Thurston between his comentating in the main arena and working on the series rebuild in the LRM tent. Jerry had just enough time to discuss the finer points of the ‘3link’ system fitted to the LRM ‘Project 90′ with Dave Marsh, owner of Qt Services and top UK trials driver. Again, click the video link adjacent to watch it.
Sunday evening finally arrived and we packed the displays away, the tents were a mess but they can be washed off and we’ll be cleaning mud out of our caravan for years to come.
Here are some pictures taken during the weekend……
